Poem

Winners & Losers

Michael Beck

Climb the highest height
Reach your furthest goal
Fulfill your greatest dream
But lose your very soul

Choose what you think best
Make up your own rules
Do what seems so right
But end up quite a fool

Walk the carpet red
Live for men’s applause
Be earth’s favorite child
But gain no true reward

Woe to those who run
Toward that which flies away
Forgetting God above
Forsaking His right way

This world and all its lusts
Will one day soon be past
But those who do God’s will
Alone will win at last
