Poem

Who Makes You to Differ?

Michael Beck

It’s not when life goes roughly, that we are at our best
When others act most rudely, we have our biggest test

How quick we are to anger, how hastily we act
Reveals how deep we know Him, whose wrath is now held back

For all He does most wisely, with Him there’s no regret
That anger clouded judgment, before the sun had set

Take time to seek your Master, delay your first response
Emotions turn to folly, if temperance we want

And if we move in our mind, our spirit so provoked
Should we then judge another, while equally unyoked?

Remember, and walk softly, lest you so tempted fall
Without the help of Jesus, you differ not at all
