What I Didn’t Need to Do

Michael Beck

I didn’t need to see that, it’s now stuck in my mind
I didn’t need to hear that, replays unholy rhyme
I didn’t need to taste that, I knew it was no good
I didn’t need to touch that, no holy person should
I didn’t need to give in, I could have sin denied
I didn’t need to buckle, but can I say I tried?
I didn’t need to go there, Your warning I ignored
I didn’t need to harden, what’s wrong with me, my Lord?

“My child, you are no debtor, from sin you have been freed
All those My Son has ransomed, each one is free indeed
But you are not a robot, you now must make a choice
Whether you will love Me, or in this world rejoice
My Spirit dwells within you, so you might know My way
But you must want to follow, or you will go astray
I’ve given you salvation, I’ve done all that I could
Now you must hate the evil, and choose what I call good.”
