Poem

Substitute

Michael Beck

He took the blame that was not His
He bore the brunt of raised up fists
A lamb He was by God’s design
A man He was that man despised
And all the rage of godless world
Upon this man was wicked hurled
The nails, the lash, with fury fell
By man in league with hordes of hell

Be not amazed that you would be
The target of God’s enemy
They will hate you if you love Him
Live in His light, reprove their sin
Their rage will fall upon your head
Because you live they’ll want you dead
For you stand for the God they hate
And in this world must meet His fate

Be brave, stand fast, just like your Lord
Beware don’t lift protective sword
For Him you live, for Him you die
Be not afraid, don’t ask God why
He told you once, but hear again
The world is filled with godless men
And God they hate and want to kill
If you are His, you’ll fit the bill
