Poem

Hope

Michael Beck

There is a cloud that fills the sky, obscures the morning sun
There is a storm that sudden breaks and puts us on the run
There is a day as dark as night that never seems to end
There is a wound that goes so deep that doesn’t wish to mend

Above the clouds there is a sun that will again appear
Within the storm there is a path toward refuge that is near
A light there is to hold on to when darkness won’t let go
A balm there is from God above that soothes our greatest woe

Look past the clouds, by faith proclaim the Son is on His throne
Run to His arms while storm winds howl, His refuge make your home
Squeeze tight His hand, while side by side, you move through darkest night
Expect His balm to heal all hurts and make your spirit right

Hope in the Son who is the Lord in days both good and bad
Know Him as one who takes you in when life would drive you mad
His voice alone make sure you hear when fear would overtake
Into His hands entrust your soul until in health you wake
