Poem

Fight!

Michael Beck

Fight today the noble fight, let not your heart be spoiled
Think not without your diligence your life will not be soiled
An enemy does set his eyes upon your precious life
And lives for every moment he can from you goodness swipe

Beware the little foxes that are sent to spoil God’s vines
Making much of little things so that the Son won’t shine
Your enemy sees not the need to fell you with one blow
He’ll chip away in hidden ways, he is a wily foe

Protect you heart with utmost care; watch and always pray
Lest like a hidden parasite, the devil eats away
The joy the Lord would have within, that is your truest strength
The peace that God would shield you by, anxieties prevent

At every turn where you would meet a challenge to your faith
If you’ll not wield both sword and shield you’ll find a sorry fate
For God is there, He’s given you the means to stand the test
But you must take unto yourself the grace by which you’re blessed

Wake up and fight, not flesh and blood, they’re not the ones to fear
Hate not poor men that without God are bound to cause much tears
Make sure that love which comes from God within you ever dwells
Lest heaven is without your heart and in you there is hell
