Will God Be Enough?

Michael Beck

“I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul. I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.” (Psalm 142:4,5)

Do not mourn when men don’t wish to know you. When their hearts and hands and homes are shut to you; when you are not worthy of their gaze or their one thought, know that there is a far greater one to know and be known by.

The backs of men can be endured when we are living before the face of God and know His eyes are continually upon us. Satisfy your desire for intimacy by making it the business of your life to know and be known of God. In doing so, the sting of rejection will no longer be a dagger to your soul.
