“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” (James 4:7,8)
Yielding our minds and bodies over to sin and uncleanness is a “sweet smelling savor” to devils. Doing so defiles us – it attracts devils to us, and repels God from us.
Would we rather repel the devil and attract God? Then we must submit to God, first in our mind, then with our body. We must resist every suggestion to submit ourselves to sin, even in our thought life. God calls us to be watchmen over His temple. No unclean thing should enter our being.
If we are pure in heart we will see God and enjoy the sweetest fellowship and friendship with Him.
