“The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.” (Proverbs 14:10)
We can instinctually know that some burdens we are carrying should not be shared with another. But every burden should be shared with God. Sometimes, we need a good word from a kindly soul. “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.” (Prov. 12:25) And then there are times when we know only God can soothe our soul.
Only those who have sought and found their solace in God know the wonder of His comfort. “This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.” (Psalm 119:50) God never has to strain for the “right word.” He knows what we have need of even before we ask Him. There is a provision in God for the most disturbing of circumstances. We live by every word that proceeds from His mouth. Without His support, we perish. “Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.” (Psalm 119:92)
Don’t mourn the fact that no one seems to understand. They are not supposed to. Your heart is too unique. But there is one who can do more than understand – He can uphold you when you are ready to faint. What a Friend we have in Jesus! Take it all to Him in prayer.
