“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk 2:3)
When we have a sense of mission, we’re unsatisfied when we feel we’re not making progress toward the accomplishment of that mission. A malaise can set in, even a depression, as we feel we’re spinning our wheels and going nowhere.
Being goal-oriented, and advancing toward our destination, can make us happy. But what good is it if we’re on the wrong road, headed toward a dead end? Never envy the prosperity of the wicked. Let God fill your vision with a destiny that doesn’t merely excite you, but also brings Him pleasure.
Perhaps, the fulfillment of the call is taking longer than you expected. Maybe you can’t quite figure out what the hold up is about. In your frustration, beware of bringing an Ishmael into the world. The just shall live by faith. Keep your eyes on the prize. To your faith, add patience, and let patience have her perfect work. God has things for us to accomplish in the future, but there is a work He is always wanting to do in us in the present.
Keep the vision alive in your heart; but don’t let any delay steal your joy. The joy of the Lord is your strength. Let the possession of God Himself be the abiding cause of your happiness.
