“But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.” (1 Thessalonians 2:4)
No one knows us better than God. Human eyes looks on the outward appearance; but God sees in secret – His eyes are on the heart. By trying our hearts, He finds us trustworthy or untrustworthy.
Many an unqualified person gets promoted because they “look the part.” Men may fool men; but God cannot be fooled. He promotes no one whom He has not thoroughly vetted.
What is God looking for? Someone whose one aim is to please Him – who would rather offend man than God. We simply cannot be a trusted servant of God when we still wish to please people and win their approval.
In big tests and small; in choices so hidden that only God is aware, men and woman of God are recognized in heaven. They alone are counted on by the Lord of hosts to carry out His business upon the earth. He has found them faithful in little, He is confident they will be faithful in much.
