“Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.” (Isaiah 3:10,11)
We are naturally anxious about the future. What will tomorrow hold for us? Will our fondest dreams be fulfilled; or will we be plunged into a nightmare? There is no crystal ball that can predict our future; but there is a certain promise that God gives to each one of us.
There is one sure promise to the righteous and another to the wicked. What is the difference between the righteous and the wicked? The righteous seek God to discover and do what is right in His sight. The wicked don’t seek God and simply do what is right in their own sight. The righteous man has this promise: “it shall be well with him.” The wicked man has this promise: “it shall be ill with him.”
There is no guesswork here. We can know what to expect based upon this one hard and fast rule: if we are truly hearing from God and doing what He wants us to do, we are ultimately going to find good in our life; and if we are not hearing from God, but operating according to our own mind, will, and desires, things are going to go bad for us.
Do you want to eat the bitter fruit of your own doings; or, do you want to experience the blessed life God has stored up for His obedient children? The decision is yours, and a certain end is promised you, based upon the path you choose.
