“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Why get up in the morning? Why go to work? Why get married? Why have kids? Why put up with difficult people? Why suffer? Why escape suffering? Why live? Why die?
From the smallest things (what we eat and drink) to the greatest things, there is only one bottom line reason for anything and everything we do: that God should be glorified.
The question underlying all we do should be: how can this glorify God? Will our actions display His power and goodness, His justice and mercy; or will they be an expression of our lack?
The chief motivating factor in all we do should not be: what can I get out of this? It must always be: how can God’s glory and beauty shine forth through this?
Arise and shine! Show forth His glory.
