Until Pain Has Passed Away

Michael Beck

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Experience produces memory. Revisiting the past can be painful or joyful. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven, far above the events He once experienced firsthand in this world. But the memory remains with Him. He suffered in the flesh. Whatever we know, He knows. He is a merciful and compassionate High Priest. And He knows how to help us. He did not cope; He overcame.

Don’t let the experience of present pain or the memory of past pain destroy you. None of us can overcome without Jesus. It is an unalterable fact of human existence: when we are hurt, we hurt in return. Only Jesus broke this law of retaliation.

Take your pain to Jesus. Let Him heal you by His stripes. One day you will be in a place where there will be no more pain or tears. Through the Shepherd who has gone before His sheep, walk through the valley of sorrow. Where He is, you will be. Everlasting joy awaits you.
