“For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away” (1 Peter 1:24)
The only beauty that lasts is God’s beauty. Our appearance changes. Our goodness is as a morning cloud. What we pride ourselves in doing today, we fail to do tomorrow.
God’s goodness endures continually. (Psalm 52:1) His beauty is not as the flower of the field. His righteousness endures forever. (Psalm 112:9) To eternally shine forth as the sun we will need a greater beauty upon us than what is naturally ours. No matter how breathtaking nature may be at any given moment, it will fade. Only what God creates in us by His grace is everlastingly beautiful.
