“Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.” (Jeremiah 1:6,7)
The plans and purposes that God has for our lives are beyond our wildest imagination. We dream too small because our dreams involve what we have the power or talent to do. When God is at work in our life He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or think.
God says to Jeremiah, “I’ve ordained you to be a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah says, “I can’t do that because I’m way too green – I’m just an inexperienced kid – and besides, I’m not a good speaker.” God’s response: “Stop with the excuses! No more looking at yourself and what you can do! Go to whoever I send you and speak whatever I command you! I am with you, and I will put My words in your mouth.”
Man will encourage man to fulfill his dreams by telling him to believe in himself and what he has the power to do. God will never encourage anyone along those lines. He will do the very opposite. He chooses the weak, the foolish, the nobodies – those who know they don’t have the wherewithal to get the job done. And He says, “GO because LO, I am WITH you, every step of the way!”
The ONLY thing that matters is the sending of God. Without it, you best stay home. With it, you can go to the ends of the earth.
