The Lord’s “Know How”

Michael Beck

“The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished” (2 Peter 2:9)

We experience anxiety when we have something we need to do, but don’t know how to do it. Our hands are weak because our minds are stumped. But God knows how we can accomplish any goal; fix any problem; and get out of any predicament. His hand is mighty to save because His understanding is infinite. “Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.” (Psalm 147:5)

What then does He call us to do? First, we need to humble ourselves before Him and not worry. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Pet. 5:6,7) Secondly, He calls us to trust Him and not lean on our own understanding. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Prov. 3:5,6)

God knew how to deliver Lot out of the bad situation he had gotten himself into. He knew Lot needed to literally be “pulled out” of where he was. “And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.” (Gen. 19:16)

What will it take for God to get His will done in any of our lives? How will He get our feet on the path of His choosing? God alone knows how to do it. We simply need to trust that He is wise enough, and caring enough to do it. Trust in Him with all your heart. Leave your cares with the One who cares for you.
