The Greatest Story Ever Retold

Michael Beck

“Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:21)

There are two callings in Christ: the one general calling that all in Christ share, and a specific call that is unique to us and differs from the calling of others. God weaves together every event in the life of His saints for the good purpose of conforming each of us to His Son. Our stories are different, but they all point to our Lord and His transforming power.

There are those in the world that want their lives to tell a unique story. They believe they have life experiences that can translate into a narrative that will touch and inspire others. But what we think about ourselves, how we make sense of our lives, the desire we have to redeem and transform our pain into something of benefit to others will amount to nothing unless we are willing for our lives to be conformed to the life of Christ. Our story needs to conform to His story for it to be truly glorious and of eternal benefit to others.

Don’t be the star of your story. Make Jesus the star. Only He can bring triumph out of tragedy. Only His story is worth retelling through our lives.
