“For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” (Psalm 149:4)
Meek men are not weak men in the traditional sense of the word. They are actually strong men who don’t let their desires and fears and emotions drive them to folly. They pour out their complaint and plead their cause to God before opening their mouths to men. They put down their shield and ask God to take His up. They drop their spear and ask God to draw His out. They call upon the Lord of hosts to go before them and fight their battles. They wait on the Almighty to arise and scatter His enemies.
Don’t be deceived by the inactivity of a meek man. There may be much in your eyes that he doesn’t seem to be acting on well enough. It may appear as though he’s letting people get away with all kinds of stuff. Don’t feel though that you have to step in, like a son of Zeruiah, and help poor David out. “And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.” (2 Samuel 3:39)
A truly meek man, who is waiting on His God, and not getting in the way, will soon enough have his Lord arrive on the scene, in His righteous power, to set things in divine order.
