The Difference Maker

Michael Beck

“Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.” (Proverbs 13:21)

We’re asking for trouble when we’re not walking with God. The failure to listen to God is a recipe for disaster. He has all the wisdom we need to navigate any situation. But do we want to hear from Him? Are we interested in gaining wisdom to handle a situation in a God glorifying way? Or do we simply rely on our own mind to figure things out? Do we trust our own spirit to respond correctly to the pressures we face?

Getting help begins with a broken, humble acknowledgment that we, in and of ourselves, don’t have what it takes to find good and avoid evil in our life. But that sober admission is only the start. Now we must commit to seeking God diligently for the help we need.

When we turn to God, God turns us to Jesus. Learning from Him and of Him is what rescues us from our own folly. Jesus is the power and wisdom of God. Without Him we can do nothing right and plenty wrong. Our biggest mistake is thinking we are good people capable of thinking, speaking, and acting right without the input of Christ.

Don’t wait until you’re knee deep in trouble of your own making to call upon the Lord for help. Give Him the opportunity to minister to you before you do something you will regret. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. He can give you all the help and counsel you need. Just one word from Him can make all the difference. You can’t afford to do life on your own. You need a Savior. His Name is Jesus. Let Him make a real difference in your life right now.
