“The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.” (Proverbs 12:5)
Every word that God speaks to us is right. His counsel is always worthy of acceptance. If He speaks up, we do best to listen. He is the Wonderful Counselor. But our thoughts are sometimes just that – our thoughts. We worry, we doubt, we want this and don’t want that. The counsel that springs from our thoughts is not so wonderful.
Don’t be so quick to voice your thoughts to others about what they should or should not do. Peter had some ideas that he voiced to Jesus about that trip to Jerusalem He planned to make. We better be careful to not interfere with another’s life when we don’t have the mind of God. Jesus knew enough to rebuke Peter. Another might not tell you to get behind them.
Think well before you speak. Don’t be an oracle of the enemy. Do you really want to be responsible for getting in the way of someone’s obedience?
