“This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.” (Psalm 119:50)
Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation. He also told us we could have His peace in the midst of it. The peace of Christ is not something we automatically have; we must seek His peace. Our hearts are naturally fearful and troubled about many things. Peace can only come when the Prince of Peace speaks His word to our heart.
How sad that we have not because we ask not; we find not because we seek not. Instead of turning to the Lord, to hear His Word and have His thoughts on any matter, we barrel forward in our own emotions and thoughts. If we are to be kept in perfect peace, we cannot let our mind run wild. We must trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean to our own understanding. We must commit our way to the Lord if our thoughts are to be established. We are to live by every quickened word He communicates to us.
The Bible contains all that we need for every situation we could face. But it will remain a closed and sealed book to us unless we are seeking God. Trust that God knows what you need even before you ask. But He wants you to ask for wisdom, in faith that the exact response you need for what you are going through will be made known to you. He will make you to lie down in green pastures, and lead you beside still waters. His word will be your comfort in your affliction.
