“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.” (Psalm 28:7)
We point people to what we have pointed ourselves toward. If we are relying on ourselves, we will encourage them to trust in themselves. If some thing or some one is our hope, we will counsel them to find the same hope. We are all evangelists – extolling and promoting some power.
Men boast of their idols, until their idols fail them. There is only one true God, and He is the Lord who created the heavens and the earth. He alone is worthy of worship. He is not a concept; He is a Person – who deserves to be loved and adored. We are to give Him the recognition He is due, trusting in nothing and no one else. And when we trust in Him, we are helped.
Those who have experienced God’s saving strength are the best evangelists. They cannot help but point others to the God who has so wonderfully helped them. They bring truly good news to a lost and hurting world.
