The Beautiful Dance

Michael Beck

“The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

Learning to wait on the Lord is a beautiful art that God Himself nurtures in us and delights in. While we wait we learn patience, meekness, quietness of heart, trust, and sensitivity to His voice. God loves the concert that exists between Himself and His people whose eyes and ears are ever toward Him. “For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” (Psalm 149:4)

In a world where men ignore Him, to find a person who is attuned to Him, who is responsive to His Spirit, is His joy. Beyond what letting the Lord unfold His good pleasure will mean for you, tenderly wait on the Lord simply because you bring Him great delight when you do so. Your reward for waiting is secondary; the pleasure you afford Him is your reason for living.

Let your Lord take the lead in the dance of your life. Take your cue from Him. There is nothing that brings Him more pleasure than your responsive heart. Let His pleasure, be your pleasure. Rejoice in your Lord always, and He will rejoice over you with singing.
