Spring Forward

Michael Beck

“Oh that I were as in months past …” (Job 29:2)

If it were up to us there would never be a time to weep, to mourn, to lose. We would always be laughing, dancing, and getting. But there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. There is a time for the leaves of one season to fall off, making room for the leaves of a new season.

Change is hard, especially when what passes is what we have loved. Why things change is not always understandable to us. But we are to bless God at all times. “Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons …” (Daniel 2:20,21)

Our God is always wanting to do a new thing in our life. If we are to press toward those things before us we must forget those things that are behind. We will laugh and dance and get again. We may be in a bleak “winter” now, but a beautiful spring is on its way. This too is the day that the Lord has made. Rejoice and be glad in it!
