Speak Up!

Michael Beck

“… He that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully.” (Jeremiah 23:28)

In a day when false apostles, prophets, and teachers are boldly proclaiming the deceits of their own heart can those who have truly heard from God afford to be silent? Jeremiah was in the minority in his day. He faced great resistance. At times he was afraid to speak up. But God warned him not to fear the reaction on the faces of his audience. “… For thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces …” (Jer. 1:7,8).

We will one day give an account to God for every idle word we spoke. We will also give an account for the good words we failed to speak. The Lord’s watchmen are to warn both the wicked and the righteous. If we don’t, the Lord will hold us accountable. The blood of those that perished without hearing God’s truth from our lips will be upon us.

Are you light in the Lord? Don’t hide under a bushel. Do you have God’s Word abiding in you? Don’t keep it to yourself. Seed is meant to be sown. You are not responsible for how anyone will respond. You will be rewarded as God’s good and faithful servant if you have faithfully spoken what He gave you to say.
