“Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.” (Isaiah 40:10)
The long experiment will soon come to an end. Man’s attempt at being his own god will be shown to be a colossal failure. All of man’s efforts to manage his own life, let alone govern the world, will be shown to be futile. In that day, the Lord alone will be exalted. In light of such, God can only say: “Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?” (Isaiah 2:22).
The Lord will soon return to this groaning and needy earth to establish His kingdom. The government will be upon His shoulders. All those who have not taken their place under Him will be disqualified from ruling with Him. Seeing we look for this kingdom to come, what manner of persons should we be now? Those who have ceased from our own works. Those who don’t operate in our own mind, and will, and strength, but stand ready to carry out the wishes of our Lord. Without Him, we labor in vain. What we do is unworthy of a reward. It is wood, hay, and stubble.
Soon and very soon we will stand before the King of kings. We will give an account for the deeds done in our body. Our work will be before Him. Will our work be the result of His working mightily within us; or will it be our own doing that accomplished nothing at best, and misery and death at worst.
Cease from yourself, and your own work. Become weak that the power of Christ may rest upon you. Become foolish that the wisdom of God may be given you. Become nobody that the King may soon place a crown on your head.
