Selah

Michael Beck

“From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.” (Psalm 61:2-4)

Rarely do people fully understand us and have the exact word of comfort or counsel we need to hear. We can become overwhelmed by various thoughts and emotions and not even understand ourselves. But God calls us to Himself. He knows and understands us and has just what we need, which sometimes is nothing more than His embrace.

Selah means “pause.” Sometimes, especially when we’re becoming overwhelmed by one thing or another, the best thing we can do is pause for a moment, and let God hug us.
