“God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” (Psalm 62:11)
We all like power. We would rather have more than less. Why? Because power gets us to where we want to go. Power helps us realize our dreams and fulfill our desires. Power is the means to our ends.
We like when we have power; but we don’t like when someone else has power. Why? Because they have different goals than we do. “Oh no! Where are they going to take us? We have to get them OUT of power!”
God wants every one of us “out of power.” He has only one interest – that His kingdom come, and His will be done. Our power, not submitted to God, is dangerous. In bringing about our perfect world, we create nightmares. We are unworthy to be in charge. So Jesus taught us to pray, “For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.” (Matt. 6:13)
Be careful of jumping on any bandwagons that promise to usher in a better world for all of us. Be careful of who you wish to put in power. They may end up taking you and everyone else in a very different direction than God is going. Stay under His control. Keep Him in power over your life. A new world is coming – brought about by His power which is able to subdue all things unto Himself.
