“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.” (Psalm 91:14)
Those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High are those who have set their love upon God. They have learned not to run to man for refuge. God is the one in whom they trust.
How the Lord loves this exclusive dependency upon Him! He loves when we “close the door” and commune with Him in secret. When we look for man’s hand or face, He lets us discover man’s inadequacies. But He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
When we draw near to the Lord, He draws near to us. When we have made Him our Beloved, our one and only, He is pleased to reveal Himself to us in a greater way. Show yourself only to Him and He will surely show Himself to you. His secret is with the righteous. (Prov. 3:32)
The reward of the Lord does not disappoint. Where men would have fallen short, He will give you over and above all you could have asked or hoped for. He will honor you because you honor Him. His eyes will be upon you because your eyes have been upon Him. You will not only feel inwardly that He has done what no one else could do for you, but it will be open knowledge that you have touched the hem of His garment.
