No Turning Back

Michael Beck

“Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.” (Hebrews 10:38)

We should not be at all surprised when mere human beings disappoint us. We all inevitably fail each other in one way or another. But what cannot and will not happen is for God to fail anyone who diligently seeks Him.

There are those who say they “tried” Christianity, or attempted to walk with God, and it didn’t work. In the day when the secrets of men’s hearts are revealed all who say this will be found liars. Our religious life may have failed us; but God surely rewards those who are desperate for Him and Him alone. “You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways.” (Isa. 64:5)

Religion gets tiresome. If we are to know life eternal we must pursue a living relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (John 17:3) God would be intimately known and He would intimately know us. That is the only type of relationship with man that He wants. If we are lukewarm and are willing to settle for anything less, He will spit us out of His mouth. (Rev. 3:16) He intends for life with Him to be “joy unspeakable and full of glory.” (1 Pet. 1:8) In His presence is fulness of joy; and at His right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Ps. 16:11)

Never let those who have thrown in the towel on God convince you He came up short. He never does less than we expect, He will always “do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” (Eph. 3:20) Without fail, He will gloriously be found by those who seek Him on His terms.

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.” (Hebrews 10:35,36)
