Make His Praise Glorious!

Michael Beck

“Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.” (Psalm 66:2)

What an awesome privilege to testify to God’s goodness! “Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.” (Ps. 66:16) If we would make God’s praise glorious we will need to see His glory in our lives. God expects us to look to Him and rejoice in the hope that His glory will be revealed to us. (Rom. 5:2) He is able to do far above and beyond all we could ask or think. (Eph. 3:20) He wants us to taste and see that He is good. We will be blessed if we trust in Him for an experience of His goodness. (Ps. 34:8)

We are to rejoice always, especially in times of tribulation. (Rom. 5:3) God wants us to call upon Him in our day of trouble so He can come through for us, and we can glorify Him. (Ps. 50:15) Every test we face is an opportunity to gain a testimony. God loves to “show off” His power in impossible situations. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him, persevering in faith and patience. (Heb. 6:12; 11:6) Our hope must be that we will “yet praise him for the help of his countenance.” (Ps. 42:15)

Let us be faithful in counting our God faithful to us. Let us arm ourselves with a helmet of hope. And when God comes through for us in a glorious way, may we relish the privilege of joyously declaring His goodness to us.

“But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.” (Psalm 71:14)
