Let the Son Shine

Michael Beck

“But unto you that fear My name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in His wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” (Malachi 4:2)

So … everything is not the way you want it to be. Even the weather leaves something to be desired. But that’s the least of your problems. Your life, on a daily basis, falls short of the life you wish you had. And it’s not always because of others. It’s mostly you. You don’t act the way you’d like to act. You don’t look the way you’d like to look. You wish you were more beautiful, all the way around.

Things “as they are” depress you. And things are not changing. But there’s only one thing that really matters. One thing you should be wanting first and foremost, above all else – “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness” (Matthew 6:33)

What is God’s righteousness? It is God’s standard for how things ought to be. Your whole world may be all wrong in your sight. But what if God wants to use it all to make you the very person He wants you to be? Will you let Him?

Will you take your eyes off of what makes you unhappy and focus on what makes Him happy? Will you give Him thanks in all things? Will you let His presence in your life be your chief joy? If you do, the Son of righteousness will shine in your life, no matter how bad the weather may be.
