Let God Arise!

Michael Beck

“When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.” (Psalm 76:9)

The meek do not rush into battle. They are not quick to defend themselves. They know the dangers involved in taking up an offense for another. It is not that they are unaffected by oppression and injustice. They are as grieved as anyone when wrongs have not been righted, but they are wise enough to refuse to move in the heat of their own spirit to see justice served or scores settled. Like the angel Michael, their appeal is to God and their position is: “The Lord rebuke you.” (Jude 1:9)

Knowing that the rod of their anger will fail, the meek trust in the Lord to make the crooked straight and the high low. Though all remains out of order, they patiently wait upon their God, resting in the promise that He will “reprove with equity for the meek of the earth.” (Isa. 11:4)

Pray. Stay out of God’s way. His rod is worth waiting for and it works better than ours. He will send forth judgment resulting in a victory that belongs to Him and not to us! He knows how to handle all things in perfect wisdom and righteousness.

Selah. Sit down and let God arise!
