Honoring God

Michael Beck

“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” (Matthew 15:8)

We honor God when we draw near to Him with a readiness for Him to minister to our heart.
– We honor God when we sincerely want to discover what He has to say to us.
– We honor God when we are willing for His thoughts to replace our thoughts.
– We honor God when what matters most to Him matters most to us.
– We honor God when we walk in the counsel of His Spirit, rather than our own strong feelings.
– We honor God when we let Him decide the relative importance of any matter.
– We honor God when we agree with His verdict in all things.
– We honor God when we sit at His feet and learn of Him.
– We honor God when we have the mind of Christ.
– We honor God when we are willing to discard our most coveted opinion or stance in favor of His simple direction to us.
– We honor God when we are willing to count all things loss to know Christ in the fellowship of His sufferings.
– We honor God when we love every word recorded in His Word, and everything He would speak to us from it.
– We honor God when we give Him our ear and full attention, saying, “Speak, Lord – your servant is listening!”
– We honor God when we are doers of His Word, not hearers only.
