“O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me is thine help.” (Hosea 13:9)
We destroy ourselves more than anyone else has ruined our lives. Without the help of God, we are incapable of handling anger concerning the past. Anger over what others have done to us fuels thoughts of hatred and murder. Anger over what we’ve done to ourselves causes self-hatred and thoughts of suicide.
Beware of the toxic mix of anger and self-pity. No matter who it is aimed at, the “blame game” brings us to a dead end. The “sorrow of the world” leads to death.
Put off all anger, wrath, and bitterness! Don’t believe you or anyone else has irrevocably ruined your life. There is hope in Christ! He can give us beauty for ashes if we will let Him write our future. He is a wonderful Healer and great Redeemer! Help is on the way – if you’ll take it.
