Healing For the Broken Heart

Michael Beck

“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

There is trauma to the heart that is harder to recover from than any blow to the body. But there is a balm in Gilead. This healing medicine is the Spirit that was upon the Lord Jesus Christ that is to be upon us.

When we are in shock; when we have been smitten to our core; when we have been betrayed, slandered, cast out and cut off by those we thought loved us, Jesus would call us to Himself. When we have been blindsided with mistreatment by those who ought to have honored us, Jesus will hold us in His arms until we are better and no longer bitter. He will be our everlasting refuge and the place we can call Home. He will be Friend, Brother, Spouse, Parent, and Shepherd we can trust and rest in. He will do us good and not evil all the days of our life. We will heal through His singular love for us. And as He enables us to love those who have hurt us the most, it will be evident that He has bound up our deepest wounds.
