God’s Wonderful Faithfulness

Michael Beck

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)

God is so faithful! He carefully watches over the life of every one of His children, never letting them face more than they can bear, and always using ever trial to stretch and mature them in the faith. His way of escape is not a deliverance out of temptation, but in temptation. He gives us the ability to rightly bear all He lets us experience.

Yes, if we fall, He is faithful to forgive us; but we don’t have to fall because He is faithful to help us to stand. There is a throne of grace that every child of God has access to. There we “obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16) It is in those times that God would draw near to us as we draw near to Him.

Look upon your Lord as your Faithful Friend that loves at all times; your Good Brother who is born for adversity. He has no intention of letting you perish in your affliction. It may seem overwhelming. You may think you’re not going to make it. But His grace is always sufficient. Whatever He allows is never for your destruction; it is always for your perfection. Learn to trust His wise oversight. He knows the way that you take and wants you to come out as gold in the end.

Our Savior knows every pain of life. He was tempted in all points like we are. He promises to be with us in every furnace of affliction. He knows how much we can take, better than we do. When all is said and done, if we have gone through it all with Him in us and with us and for us, we will marvel not at what we did, but at the supernatural empowerment we received. We will rejoice in His wonderful faithfulness to us.
