God’s Helping Hand

Michael Beck

“Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.” (Psalm 130:1)

We were on God’s mind before we had a thought toward Him. Before the world began, He was preparing for us all the help we would need to navigate the treacherous waters of this life. We were born wanting, but not knowing the depth of our need. But God knew our need before our first cry. He has prepared peace and strength and sanity to last a lifetime for all who look to Him.

It can take us quite a long time to realize we can’t make it without God. We barely keep our head above water in the good days, and then – a bad day hits, and we start to go under. In just such a day, God’s hand is reaching out. All we need to survive and thrive is in Him. He can and will supply for all of our need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Jesus is God’s hand extended to the poor and the needy, to those who wake up to the realization that they are insufficient of themselves to successfully deal with the life before them. Don’t wait until things are dire to call upon the name of Jesus to rescue you. Today, He is God’s helping hand, prepared for you long before you were born. God knew you would need Him. In Christ, He gives Himself to you.
