“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)
God is blessed because He is a blesser. He teaches us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. We can become downcast and obsessed with our own problems and cares. But the sure and simple way to be lifted up is to give of our time, attention, and energy to others and their concerns. Give and it shall be given to you. Bless and you shall be blessed.
When it comes to people:
Don’t look to be encouraged. Encourage.
Don’t look for a smile. Smile.
Don’t look to be given to. Give.
Don’t look for someone to see your need. See.
Get by giving. Be refreshed by “watering” another.
“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” (Proverbs 11:25)
