For Yourself

Michael Beck

“If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.” (Proverbs 9:12)

Living out the life of Christ is the best and wisest life you can live. Christ is the Wisdom of God. A life lived in keeping with the wisdom of God is also the most successful life. We may think we know better than God; but He wrote the book on the good life. Jesus is the Book made flesh. All He taught and lived out before us is the manual for doing life right.

A scorner is one who despises wisdom. His refusal to hear instruction or correction is his ruin. We can go through life living by every wise word that God would give us or we can be too smart for our own good. The choice is ours. Ultimately, we will bear the consequences of our decision to hear from God or tune Him out.

Do yourself a favor – sit at the feet of Jesus. At every twist and turn you encounter, abandon your own understanding and learn from the Wisdom of God.

Do it for the Lord. Do it for yourself.
