“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.” (Isaiah 32:17)
God alone can bring us to a place of peace. This peace transcends our understanding. God doesn’t minimize the events in our life that have affected us. But He calls us to have His response.
What happens, (or has happened,) to us is largely out of our control. But how we respond is not. In choosing the way of righteousness, we find the way of peace. Until we look to God for the way forward, our thoughts are not His thoughts, and our ways are not His ways. Without His counsel, there is no soundness of mind or heart. We are left with turmoil and no godly resolution. All we can do is make matters worse for ourselves and all concerned.
Peace is the wonderful fruit of being led by the Spirit of Christ. To find rest for our soul, Jesus beckons us to come and learn of Him. He is the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace, the Son of Righteousness who has arisen with healing in His wings. To let Him lead us into paths of righteousness is the only way to bring an end to our turmoil, and find peace at last.
