Escaping Craziness

Michael Beck

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” (1 Corinthians 13:12)

God promises the righteous ever increasing light. “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” (Prov. 4:18). In the “perfect day” there will be no more mysteries. All will be understood, seen in the perfect light of God’s knowledge. We will know even as we are known.

The exact opposite is the lot of the wicked. “The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble” (Prov. 4:19). The way that seems right to them will end in everlasting death and darkness. They will be “cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matt. 8:12).

Today, God gives His children a peace that passes understanding. It is enough for them that God knows all things and He can be trusted to resolve all things justly. They don’t have to have everything and everyone figured out; they just need to love like He loves. Weeping may endure for a night, but perfect light is on the horizon. Soon and very soon they will perfectly see and understand all things now hidden. Such understanding will cradle them in eternal peace.

The wicked though have no peace now, and will forever live in dark confusion. There is no light in hell. There is no peace for those who have made their bed there. How horrible to forever be of an unsound mind – blaming and cursing God and man; justifying one’s own actions; endlessly relitigating the past to no avail.

There is time now to seek the Lord. “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isa. 55:6). Those who seek the Lord have the beautiful promise that they will understand all things (Prov. 28:5). Repentance involves turning from our way to God’s way; and abandoning our thoughts for an understanding God would give us. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD” (Isa. 55:7,8)

An eternal day is coming for the just; and an eternal night for the wicked. Our own narratives are not worth holding on to. Let God’s true light chase away the darkness of delusion. Let His thoughts replace your thoughts. He is the author of a sound mind. Escape crazy – before it is too late.

“For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.” (Psalm 36:9)
