Enduring Truth

Michael Beck

“Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.” (Psalm 86:11)

The world is confused because its morality is selective. Where there was a blind eye yesterday, there is outrage today. Party lines guide conviction. Public opinion determines censure. Political expediency informs contrition. Toward one wrong there is condemnation; toward an even greater wrong there is justification. “Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty …” (Hosea 10:2)

Those who walk in the fear of God do not vacillate. The truth and law of God is in their heart at all times, whether it is popular or not. Their convictions are not shaped by what is presently shameful or praiseworthy in the eyes of men. Their moral compass has been set from on high, it does not move with the day or the crowd.
