“Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.” (Isaiah 50:10)
Life simply does not cooperate with our wishes. Things happen that block us from doing what we want, and getting to where we want to go. Of course, when such happens we want to know why. When a child wants to do something and their parent says “No,” the first question is “Why can’t we?”
Wouldn’t it be great if we understood the reason behind every denial or delay we experienced. It’s always a head-scratcher when you’re in a traffic jam, wondering what could be the problem up ahead, and suddenly everything clears up without any culprit to pin the blame on. What was THAT all about!?
God never explained to Job what was behind the tragic events in his life. And in the end, Job stopped demanding to understand. What God prefers is that we learn to worship Him, even in the blackest night; trusting Him beyond what our eyes see or our minds understand; resting in His love, and knowing that He is firmly in charge of our lives, as He works all things together for good.
