“Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.” (Psalm 49:18)
We all like a success story. We applaud those who “overcome the odds” and reach their goals. But what will the highest praise of men mean to us when we stand before God in the day of judgment? “… For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” (Luke 16:15)
When all is said and done a life well lived will not be one that accomplished its goals. It will be one which did what mattered to God and finished the assignment He gave.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Chase what really matters.
