Blinding “Truth”

Michael Beck

“Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.” (Proverbs 19:27)

Why wonder that the world can’t see the truth when it’s right in front of them, when so many in the church won’t do the same when it comes to the Word of God? “Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition … Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition” (Mk. 7:9,13)

When anyone has an agenda; or their “own truth,” (i.e., their lived experience); or cherished beliefs, doctrines, and traditions, that they refuse to part with; it is not that they can’t see, it is that they won’t see. They are “willingly ignorant.” When God sends light to them they are only hardened deeper in darkness and delusion. They will fight and die for a lie, believing it is “truth.”

The strongest delusion the world has ever seen is around the corner. It will ensnare those who “received not the love of the truth.” (2 Thes. 2:10) Beware of biases that cause you to “hold the truth in unrighteousness.” Be valiant for THE truth – wherever it leads – even if that means an admission you’ve been wrong.
