Blessed Shelter

Michael Beck

“From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.” (Psalm 61:2,3)

God never intended that man should live without Him.  He grows faint and collapses when the strain is too much. He can only hold on for so long. He becomes overwhelmed and “short-circuits.”

How blessed is the man who has a Shelter in every storm! In the little and big tumults of life, there is “very present help” available to those who have God as their Refuge and Strength. Facing life with God in us, and for us, and with us, is a glorious privilege and comfort. Woe unto those who are alone when they fall!

Thank you, Jesus, for connecting me to the Father! Thank you for your comfort in every trial and tribulation! Thank you for being the Rock that is higher than I am!
