Being Part of the Solution

Michael Beck

“O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.” (Isaiah 2:5)

We mourn and rage over a world that is full of pain and hurt and sorrow. We look for villains to blame and remove so peace and quiet can prevail. But we look in vain because the world we want will not be realized until Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom in the earth. Then it will be fulfilled: “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9)

In that day the Lord will teach the nations His ways “and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Isaiah 2:4) The way of war will be exchanged for the way of peace. Selfishness will be replaced by consideration. Harshness will give way to gentleness. The love of Christ will clothe men in such a way that no one will work any harm to his neighbor. The world will be a wonderful place to live in!

Is Christ in your life? If so, you can walk in His light now. You cannot change the whole world, but you can change your world. Will you sit at your Lord’s feet and learn of Him? Will you let your heart be “full of the knowledge of the Lord?” Walking in the love of Christ will one day be the solution for this world’s ills. Today though it can make the world you live in a very wonderful place. Be the change you want to see around you.
