All Things Considered

Michael Beck

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5)

A mediator is interested in the reconciliation of two parties. He is a “go-between” who has the interests of both in mind. The selfless mission of Jesus was to reconcile man to God. Does He care for the concerns of humanity? Yes. But not at the expense of dismissing the concerns of God.

Man has no better friend than the God-man, Jesus Christ. But the Father has no better friend than His Beloved Son, in whom He is well-pleased. When His mediating work is successful is one’s life, both God and man are blessed. The reconciliation that takes place is beautiful and satisfactory to all involved.

God will never be so for us that He is against Himself. If we are going to come to the table at which Jesus is the Mediator, we must be ready to see things from God’s point of view. Insisting God is the “bad guy” and we are the “good guy” won’t work.

Are you willing for Christ to be your mediator? Do you want to have peace with God? Jesus is ready to effect a a reconciliation between the two of you – one in which both of you walk away hand-in-hand, extremely happy.
